Jane tentatively opened her eyes, took one look at the brightness and dove into the shadows behind the desk. After a moment she realized that she hadn't been hurt at all.
Sheepishly she stepped back into the light.
"Seems so," she said. She could feel herself shaking. Her chest was tightening up and she was struggling to catch her breath, but she wasn't burning.
"Could...uh, could you turn that off though? It's freaking me out," she admitted.

Eiron had jumped back when she dove beneath the desk and tripped over the chair, landing flat on his back. And adding another bump to the back of his head. He shook his head slightly and clamored back to his feet, spinning the dial to revert the lights to what they had been previously. The extra monitors shut off as the lights went down and he turned back to Jane, "The zipper is on your right side, right above your shoulder. Undo that, and then it all just snaps apart. Pretty easy."

Jane winced in sympathy at the clattering.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you."
She undid the snaps near her neck and took the helmet off. She could still feel the blush on her face.
"That was... wow. You really are a genius aren't you?" she said her voice full of amazement.

"I... well... I guess you could say that I'm a genius." He sort of shuffled his feet while the blood creeped up his neck again.
"I'm uh... I think I might go lie down for a bit." He walked past her back to the room and out of sight.
Before he got too far, Sven popped out of the shadows next to Jane, "It's getting light outside, you might want to turn in as well. He's going to be sleeping for awhile."

Jane gave him a hug before pulling her sweater back on.
"Yeah, when's the last time you slept anyway?" she called after him as he walked up the hallway.
She jumped at Sven's sudden appearance.
"Yeah, I should get home...how do I get out of here?"

Eiron just sort of waved over his shoulder without really identifying how long it had been since he'd slept.
Sven gave her a shrug, "I can take you up. I don't know how to operate that massive elevator thing and he'll be crashed by the time we get over there. Or you can just go crash on his couch, I'm sure he wouldn't mind."
There was a slight pause and Sven spoke again, with a touch of seriousness, "It's odd for him to be socializing with someone, he never really connected with anyone outside family friends or cousins."

"Yeah, I, well," she stammered, "I should probably get home. I don't exactly sleep for multiple days. Let me uh..."
She fumbled uselessly at her pockets before looking at Sven.
"I was going to leave my number...is it really that weird?" she asked as she started down the hall. If she wasn't going to be staying she may as well grab her things.

"Oh yeah, I forgot he does that. definitely don't want to hang out and wait for him then."
Sven turned and ruffled around on the desk until he found a stack of sticky notes and set them down, "here, just right it down and stick it to one of his monitors. He hates things being stuck to them, so he'll notice it first thing. I'll take you up as soon as your ready."
He held out his hand, waiting for her to be ready.

"Yeah, okay." She hastily scrawled her number onto a sticky note. She hesitated and decided to leave it on the edge of the screen so the adhesive wouldn't get on the monitor.
"I just need to grab my clothes and get changed," she said looking around. "I think they were hanging up in the balcony."
She took Sven's hand.

Sven dipped in to the shadows quickly and pulled her along, not giving her the chance to look around before they reappeared upstairs next to her clothes. He looked at the rail and turned to Jane, lifting an eyebrow, "I'm not going to bother asking why your undergarments are out here. If you're going to leave, I suggest doing it soon. It's going to be light within a couple hours, and I don't think you want to be caught outside. Alternatively, I could take you, but I'd have no idea where to drop you at."

"In case you didn't notice it was a downpour when I got here," Jane said indignantly pointing out the mud that caused her mostly dry pant legs to have stiffened.
She leaned into the shadow at the wall pulling her clothes in after her as she got dressed. As she finished up Eiron's sweats were lightly tossed out in a folded pile. Jane wasn't far behind. She glanced out the window.
"If I hurry I think I can make it," she asserted. Eiron would have been one thing, but she didn't think that Sven needed to be knowing where she lived.
"Thanks, I'll see you guys around," she said with a wave at the top of the stairs. She hastily pulled up the collar of her jacket, pulled her hat low over her eyes, and stuffed her hands into her pockets before slipping out the door at a light jog.

Spongebob "Two Days Later" Sign
The pitch black of Eiron's room had only been interrupted long enough for a bathroom light to turn on and off within the past two days. After over two days of sleep however, this time he was ready to stay awake. He yawned and sat up, rubbing his head. He rolled to look out the window and in to the shop, only to realize that he was still downstairs.
"...How?"
Then the entire night with Jane and Sven came rushing back to him. He rubbed his forehead against his hands and then scrabbled his hand across the night stand next to the bed, eventually coming in to contact with, and grabbing, a cell phone. It was only at that moment that it came to him: He hadn't asked Jane for her phone number. He groaned and flopped back in to the bed for awhile, then got up and flipped the switch to bring the room back to the surface. Maybe she had stopped to visit him but the room had been underground? He checked his watch: 6PM. If she was going to be around, she'd probably be around soon.

Jane wandered her house for the umpteenth time that day. She knew that Eiron had mentioned that he usually slept for a few days at a time when he did sleep. This information had done nothing to calm her. She'd left her number and now she would just have to wait to see if he did want her to hang around. She'd been wandering aimlessly almost since she'd gotten home. She would go to Eiron's herself, but politeness dictated that she should at least wait for him to invite her for the first few times she went to visit. She peered out the curtain. It would be dark soon and she would be able to leave the house if she wanted. This thought was interrupted by the fact that her phone was a land-line. She'd never gotten a cell phone because she'd simply never had a need for one.
"He'd probably think I hate him if he called and I didn't answer," she said to no one in particular.
With a small sigh she carefully placed the curtain back where it was. She'd stay in and read tonight. It was no big deal. Jane strode over to one of her three lamps, checked the shawls and fabric that she'd draped over and under it to make sure no harsh light escaped, and clicked it on. One would be plenty. Once that was done she went to the kitchen, grabbed a couple of fat candles and a tray and set them up near the chair she preferred to read in; over-sized so that she could sit cross-legged in it. After that it was a quick trip to the kitchen for a sandwich and some grape juice. A glance at the clock told her it was 6:30. How long was it safe for a person to sleep?
She arranged herself in her chair, had a bite of her sandwhich and a sip of juice, opened the book she'd been reading, and worked her way back into the story.

Eiron spent all day in the top of his garage, looking towards the doors and windows, hoping that Jane would show up eventually. It wasn't until the early hours of the morning that he finally gave a sigh of resignation and wandered back up to his room and flipped the switch to run it down to the basement.
As he made his way out of the room, he walked over to the stand where he planned on setting up the gear he had designed for dusk and began cleaning it off. While he did, he noticed a glimpse of something yellow out of the corner of his eye. Turning his head toward it, he began to get red in the face, "Dammit Sven! If you wanted to irritate me, you could have done it ANY OTHER WAY, than sticking those to my monitors!"
He marched across the room and snatched the note off the monitor, fully expecting it to be some sort of "haha" sort of note from Sven, and was about ready to crinkle it up and throw it away when he noticed it wasn't Sven's hand writing. Looking down at the note, he thumped his hand to his forehead and ran across the room to the phone, dialing as fast as he could in the hopes that he'd catch Jane in time.

Jane had no clue how long she'd been reading. All that she knew was that she jumped so hard that she found herself half-way to the floor with both of her feet asleep. She rolled unceremoniously to the floor and hissed as her ankle hit her end-table. The remaining half of her sandwich was still on the end-table...the remaining bit of her juice on the other hand arced cleanly into her face. "Sonofa- who the HELL is calling me?" she grumbled as she swiped at her face. She got to her feet that were now completely pins and needles, {i}"Why did I even sit like that?[/i], and walk-hopped in the ungainly way of a landed bird to the phone catching it on the fourth or fifth ring.
"Hello," she said swiping again at her now sticky face. It wasn't a question. She didn't have the patience for a question.

Eiron heard the note of... what he interpreted as irritation. He immediately began to stutter in to the phone, as if he suddenly regretted ever picking it up and dialing, "Oh, h-hi Jane! It's um... It's Eiron. I didn't see that you left your phone number here until just now..."
He swallowed and took a deep breath, "But uh... yeah. I'm awake now if you want to... you know... come on over. It might be a bit late for you to start walking over here though... I think it might be light soon? I don't know when it starts getting light currently."
