Tanner
If I get my hands on you, Im gonna tear you apart
Closed off from love, I didn't need the pain
Once or twice was enough and it was all in vain
Time starts to pass before you know it you're frozen
Once or twice was enough and it was all in vain
Time starts to pass before you know it you're frozen
You would think to a man like Tanner, the song would simply be a background noise, but this just couldn't be true. He sat in his VIP booth drinking his Mojito, eyes glazed over and distant as he listened to every word. It wasn't that he wanted love, missed it maybe from his childhood. He was just deep in a way that no one knew. He liked music. He liked hearing the hearts of other people crying out. Maybe that's why he funded the Hartland project, a project he was sure could bring out the monster, or hero, in everyone. He believed that our human form, was restricting us from being what we where on the inside. The Hartland project was a form of expression. He felt he was freeing mere mortals from the caged in versions of themselves. He was acting for the greater good.
But something happened for the very first time with you
My heart melted to the ground, found something true
And everyone's looking 'round, thinking I'm going crazy
My heart melted to the ground, found something true
And everyone's looking 'round, thinking I'm going crazy
Another sip of his drink and he closed his eyes, a sexy smooth smile on his lips as he pictured it. A world full of perfect people. People without restrictions. Sure this project created just as many monsters and freaks as it did his desired result. It was all worth it in the end. Besides, by his understanding of the gene, the results where there in the body the whole time, just amplified and distorted by the experiment. It was not Tanner's fault that some people where just ugly on the inside. His eyes slowly opened and he gazed around the club at all the people. They all looked so happy engulfed in the music. So freed by it. They could get that and so much more, and he would be the one to open their eyes.
But I don't care what they say, I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away but they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein that I keep on closing
They try to pull me away but they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein that I keep on closing
Tanner placed his glass on the table in front of him, bringing the little mint sprig from the bottom of the glass to his lips. He placed the sprig on his tongue and closed his mouth, enjoying the taste. He sighed a little and looked over at his body guard. He wasn't entirely sure why he needed one, but the forty something man had been in Tanner's employment since he was five. His dad had been so over protective. Tanner smiled. No one could touch him, even without his friend and body guard Steve. He ran this city. Everyone was his friend. False as they may be, everyone wanted a piece of Tanner's action. And yet he was somehow lonely, surrounded by false friends and fake smiles. He was just a walking money sign.
You cut me open
And I keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding, I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open
And I keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding, I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open
Steve turned, meeting Tanner's gaze and they gave each other knowing nods. They didn't talk in public, but they where best friends. The twenty year age difference didn't mean much, Steve was like Tanner's big brother. Tanner loved him like family. Steve returned his gaze to the dance floor and Tanner followed. Watching once more the people, dancing as if they where each the only person in the room. Tanner furrowed his brows, his blue eyes lost somewhere in the crowd, watching the bodies move, so that they become one large mass and he could barely tell where one ended and the next began. Then, out of the corner of his eye he saw a figure standing all alone in the far corner of the club.
Call me Prince Charming, Call me Tanner
