"Hard to charge rent to someone that you forget exists every other day." He gave a short shrug and leaned forwards, "Listen, if you told me, you could try to kill me. But people have been trying that for years, and none of them have had any success yet."
He leaned back and laughed heartily, grabbed yet another beer and downing it, "Well, since I seem to be the only one to that's able to notice you on a regular basis, feel free to ask for any help. I've been in this town since I was a kid. And I have a lot of people in the military that can help out."

Daurian snorted in amusement. If she was being honest she'd never killed a person in her life, but Cairn's seriousness was amusing to say the least.
"Not sure that I want to get involved with the military to be honest," she said.
"So, you said you've been here most of your life. Why?"

He shrugged, "I never said I was going to involve you with the military. As I said earlier, I'm not fond of the military's current actions, what with the disappearing mutants."
As the bartender passed, he grabbed his fourth beer in an hour and began downing in it. When she gave him a dirty look, he pointed at Daurian, "Put it on her tab."
The lady rolled her eyes and walked away. Cairn snickered, "I was found with my powers at a very young age. Once I ripped someone's implants out for poking me with needles, they stopped trying."

"What about disappearing mutants?" she asked feigning ignorance.
Daurian waved politely to the waitress before she turned her attention back to Cairn. So he was an orphan or something? That must've been something of a shock to whoever took him in.
"Look, I know that you're huge and all, but you're drinking pretty fast. Shouldn't you slow down? If you pass out it's not like I can help you stumble home or anything,"she dead-panned.

"Well, I was tasked with bringing in a few of the local mutants, and when I asked about them at a later date, everyone acted like they'd never heard of them. So I tend to forget I'm supposed to be finding mutants."
He grabbed yet another drink, "Nah, I'll be fine. I've drank more than this before."

Daurian nodded. She was completely unconvinced.
"Sounds shady. Why're you sticking around?"

"I've been there too long to just abandon it now. Plus, I'd hate to see who they'd send after me to 'recover' me. It wouldn't be pretty for this town."
He looked around, but the bartender had managed to make it through without giving up a beer. Cairn grumbled and rubbed his palms together, "So tell me. What is it that you're doing hanging around this part of town? You said you haven't been here long, so I'm guessing you came here for a reason."

Daurian shrugged. His reasons were fair enough. Still...
"Ah, I wanted to leave the city for awhile. It's a bit harder to keep a place to live there. Sucks when you come home and there are people living there. Might be moving on soon with the info you just gave me though," she lied easily. Never mind the guy in front of her. Her dad would flip if she told anyone her business without knowing considerably longer first.

"Moving on so soon? But no one here even remembers you in the slightest bit. So what is it? Do you alter their minds so they can't remember you? Are you a constantly changing person that everyone only slightly recognizes, but you're not similar enough to talk to?"
He leaned forward, intrigued, "How is it that no one knows you?"
