[Dusk]

Dusk was up early. Her cat, as much as she loved him, had decided to look outside while she was asleep on the couch. When this happened he'd pulled the curtain aside and a stray beam of light from the still setting sun had hit Jane's exposed calf. In a matter of seconds she was off the couch and sprawled on the other side of the living room floor saying some rather interesting combination of words.

She was not pleased at all as she looked down at her calf. The skin was already blistered and bleeding lightly in a few spots. Sighing she hauled herself off the floor and went to the bathroom to put some antibiotics on it and wrap it up. It'd been quite some time since she'd fallen asleep on her couch, and now she remembered why. She wandered the house making herself a quick egg sandwich while she waited for the sun to sink below the horizon. Donning her bright yellow sneakers she set out for the children's park near her home in her green capris tank top with a bright yellow scarf. Naturally, her favorite hat perched on her head by the time she hit the door.

During the day this colorful get-up would have earned her many stares. Luckily for her it was night and anyone that would be out as long as her would be expected to dress like a freak.

It was a very short walk to the park. It was maybe three blocks from her house. She laid out on the merry-go-round idly swinging it from side to side with her feet. The slowly spinning stars making up somewhat for her unwanted wake-up call. A few people passed by as was normal. Jane paid them no mind and went on spinning herself around lazily on the merry-go-round.

Leah Abrams was not happy. Not happy at all. As a matter of fact she was downright depressed. Work had started out just like any other shift, a few false alarms, a few less than false ones. The majority of the patients were well-off, there had been no need for her particular gift.
Until him.
Young man in his early twenties, multiple stab wounds.
The call had come in from a cell, the person on the other line did not give their name and they did not stick around long enough to see the ambulance arrive. Most likely a mugging gone a little too far.
The moment she and the other EMTs loaded him into the ambulance she knew she needed to act fast if she was going to save his life. Luckily the stab wounds were not located near any major organs. All she had to do was partially close the wounds and he would make it long enough to get into the ER and be in the care of a proper Doctor.
It should have been simple really, but nothing with her power ever was. She managed to partially heal the first wound easily enough. She had seen stab wounds enough times to have adapted to knowing how to heal them rather quickly. However when she went to heal the second one she was hit with a massive migraine. She tried to work through the pain, a migraine was nothing compared to the life or death situation at hand. But no matter how hard she tried the man remained unaffected. He died within the first five minutes of being in contact with her.
She had the ability to heal him, she knew she could. But her own weakness had prevented her from carrying out what she set out to do since she took the job as an EMT: Do waht any other EMT could not.
Her team tried to console her, but they just didn't understand. To them he had been a lost cause right off the bat. If only they knew what she could do.
After she got off shift she didn't very much feel like taking her normal route home. She didn't really know where she was going until she was almost there. The Children's Park where she and her sister used to play before the accident. Back when she was just a normal kid with normal kid type problems.
She remembered playing on the merry-go-round for hours, she and her sister taking turns pushing. As a matter of fact there was someone on the merry-go-round right now. A girl...In a...Cheetah print hat?

[Dusk]

Dusk continued to spin on the merry-go-round. She was used to people walking through the park at night, so she never really paid them much mind. She heard the person stop, but she still didn't mind. After all the person could have stopped to look at the sky, or a frog, or any other of a multitude of things that could be in a park.

It wasn't until she felt the person's eye on her that she finally looked over. The person in question was a girl. A rather pretty girl at that. She seemed to be thinking about something, and Dusk really didn't feel threatened by her, so she didn't stop spinning. She just kept kicking her foot out to keep the momentum going while watching the tired looking lady. She felt rude for just watch her back so, sighing, she finally spoke.

"Are you lost ma'am?" she asked tilting her head. She wasn't sure if that was the right thing to ask, but it was certainly better than the awkward silence.
